Comizi d’amore revisited: closing night

Istituto Svizzero hosts the final event of the interdisciplinary summer school Comizi d’amore revisited: una ricerca creativa a Roma. The students from various Swiss and Italian schools and universities will exhibit their works of transmedia enquiry developed, in the footsteps of Pasolini, around the question of the link between bodies, their sexualities, their genders, their origins, their spatial practices and the city.
Afterwards, perfomer Tony Allotta will also take the public in the footsteps of the famous Friulian with Come cani senza padrone – PPP Passeggiata Performativa Pasoliniana, an itinerant performance that takes place in public space and is inspired by Pier Paolo Pasolini’s Le ceneri di Gramsci, a secular Via Crucis where the words of the past dialogue with the urban territory. The structure is that of the medieval sacred drama, with several ’stations‘. A total experience that takes place in a real place through a collective action: walking together.
To close the evening, a moment of interaction and discussion in small groups accompanied by the sounds of Roman composer and DJ Mangoo. The results of these discussions will enrich the inquiry report produced as part of the summer school and will be integrated into the exhibition that will take place in the fall in French-speaking Switzerland.

Programme:

H18:00-19:00 – Presentation of the participants’ works

H19:00-20:00 – Come un cane senza padrone – PPP Passeggiata Performativa Pasoliniana, performance by Tony Allotta within the surroundings of Istituto Svizzero

Biographies:

Tony Allotta: performer and theatre trainer, Roman with origins in the Mediterranean, trained between Gigi Proietti’s School and La Sapienza University. He is the author of three theatre suns: Lettere Rubate – cercando Fernando Pessoa là dove non è stato, La vita davanti inspired by Roman Gary’s novel of the same name, and the Pasolinian performance walk Come cani senza padrone. He collaborates with several Italian companies, mainly from the Scena Romana. He is part of the artist collective Isola Teatro directed by Marta Gilmore and the activist group against serophobia Conigli bianchi. He is the Caliph in Paolo Sorrentino’s The New Pope series, in which he declares war on the Vatican. He is part of the project The present is not enough by Silvia Calderoni and Ilenia Caleo.

Mangoo: Mangoo’s musical habitat is the unusual, the exotic, the unspoken between one genre and another. He has a predilection for slow, erotic rhythms that evoke the tribal nature of music itself. Downtempo, funk and polyrhythms are the ingredients with which to play behind the turntables for a sonic journey between continents.
