Lavorando tra suono, immagine e presenza dal vivo, la performance Beauty must be angry, as Lisa suggested si confronta con le condizioni attraverso cui un corpo appare ed è percepito. Affronta il modo in cui la visibilità viene direzionata e controllata, e come ciò plasmi la relazione tra performer e spettatorə. Attingendo ai linguaggi visivi del cinema, della musica pop e del teatro, l’opera considera la seduzione come una forma costruita: non come narrazione, ma come modalità di messa in scena, di attenzione e di controllo. Riflette su come le immagini di femminilità, desiderio e potere vengano prodotte, abitate e trasformate.
Il testo seguente è una dichiarazione dell’artista Sultan Çoban:
„I am Sultan Çoban. I invited you here today to reveal my real voice. Yet I am shy, my voice is my heart. My heart is the magic that pulled you here. My presence is what made me famous. I stand behind this front, behind this window, I am well for now. At least I know I am above ground, and the eyes that look at me are looking up.“
„I will sing for you, do not worry. Knowing that I am watched, I move in a way that I know you love. I know what your eyes want to see.“

Sultan Çoban (1994) è un’artista attiva tra Basilea, Zurigo e Amsterdam. La sua pratica si sviluppa tra performance, regia e installazione, con un interesse per identità culturale, memoria e autorappresentazione. Le sue opere combinano suono, proiezioni live e messe in scena. Ha conseguito un BA in Arti Visive presso la ZHdK e un MA al Sandberg Instituut. Il suo lavoro è stato presentato alla Gessnerallee di Zurigo, agli Swiss Art Awards, al festival Les Urbaines e all’Istituto Svizzero. A Roma, attraverso narrazioni visive e performance, esplora la creazione di una figura ibrida tra strega e angelo, metafora di trasformazione e identità.
