Research, Media & Political Activism team Up for Agenda 2030
Keynote-Speaker: Dr. Corina Heri, Co-head Climate Rights and Remedies Project, University of Zurich
Chair/discussant: Prof. Pierluigi Musarò, Department of Sociology and Economic Law, University of Bologna
Crises – such as the Covid-19 pandemic and climate change issues – have demonstrated again that in times of complex global challenges, it is essential that political engagement and media reporting are informed by scientific findings. The response to crises and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda also depend on an effective collaboration between science, media, and politics. New ideas are needed – especially in the face of the ever faster spread of fake news and the growing importance of social media in information gathering. What are the alternatives and how can we initiate the change demanded by younger generations?
The Embassy of Switzerland in Italy and Istituto Svizzero invite young Italian and Swiss researchers, journalists and activists to address these issues within the context of environmental justice. They will discuss opportunities, risks and solutions in a transdisciplinary workshop moderated by Dr. Sarah Walker (Department of History and Cultures – Geography section, University of Bologna), followed by a panel for the public.
Organised by the Embassy of Switzerland in Italy in collaboration with Istituto Svizzero, within the context of House of Switzerland.
