Guided Tours inside Villa Maraini

Villa Maraini opens its doors and welcomes visitors as part of the eleventh edition of Open House Roma, the annual event that celebrates the architecture and design of the Capital, allowing the free opening of hundreds of buildings notable for their architectural features.

A jewel of early twentieth-century Rome, the headquarters of Istituto Svizzero is a villa in eclectic style that was built in 1905 by architect Otto Maraini for his brother Emilio Maraini, an industrialist and sugar producer from Ticino. The building and its gardens stand on an artificial hill – originally a landfill – that offers a panoramic view of the city from one of the districts of the historic center of Rome, in close proximity to the Spanish Steps and Villa Borghese.

The visit will also be the occasion to see Klodin Erb’s solo exhibition A different kind of furs on view within the spaces of Villa Maraini.
