Scelsi night
Istituto Svizzero hosts the final event of the interdisciplinary summer school A letter to Giacinto Scelsi. Students from the MA Contemporary Arts Practice (CAP) from Bern University of the Arts will exhibit their individual artistic reflections inspired by the Italian composer Giacinto Scelsi (1905-1988). The idea of artistic translation as it can be explored in Scelsi’s compositional process, the archive of the Fondazione Isabella Scelsi as a site for artistic inquiry and reflection, questions of documenting and tracing, as well as investigations into the personal biography of an eclectic artistic figure will be discovered from today’s perspective. Multimedia works involving performances, texts, sounds, installations, films and concerts will be presented throughout the evening.
The event will feature flautist and performer Gianni Trovalusci, with works by John Cage, Domenico Guaccero, Franco Evangelisti, Giacinto Scelsi.
A cooperation between the MA Contemporary Arts Practice and the Fondazione Isabella Scelsi, with guests from the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia.
