This year’s edition features Aino Salto and Daykoda, contemporary and emerging music projects from Switzerland and Italy, presenting live performances with a focus on experimental practices.

For the first time, the programme includes a three-day music residency with Aino Salto and Daykoda at Istituto Svizzero, conceived in collaboration with the Montreux Jazz Artists Foundation. The residency features an intensive programme led by mentors and culminates in the public concert on 22 May.

BIOGRAPHIES:

In a retelling of Finnish mythology, Aino is a character who escapes a man she does not want by transforming herself into a fish and living in the lake with the goddess of the lake. A somersault is simply a brilliant move, and an invitation to stir things up. Unfortunately, Aino can’t do a salto yet, but she’s definitely working on stirring things up. In January 2025, Aino Salto released her first award-winning EP, ‘Imagine People As Adolescent Birds’, for which she was able to play concerts throughout Switzerland with her favourite band (Paul Butscher – flgh, Luzius Schuler – keys, Tabea Kind – double bass, Eddy Sonnenschein – drums). This was followed in February 2026 by her second EP, ‘Guesswork’, featuring tracks such as ‘Kill The Bourgeoisie’ and ‘Hedgehog Days’, and in April 2026 by her third: ‘Feeding the Fantasy’, featuring the track ‘Poppies Forever’. With lyrics that are sometimes political, always subversive, and cheerful melodies, Aino and her band snuck onto festival stages and the Montreux Jazz Fall Residency 2025. Aino’s message is clear at every concert: another world is possible, and we’ll feed the imagination until that world becomes reality.

Daykoda is the forward-thinking musical project of Milanbased producer and musician Andrea Gamba, exploring the intersections of electronic music, experimental jazz, and leftfield hip-hop. Inspired by visionary labels like Brainfeeder and Ninja Tune, and often compared to Flying Lotus, his work is both intellectually exploratory and emotionally resonant. Across his discography — All Of Me (2019), PHYSIS (2021), and UNO (2023) — Daykoda has collaborated with artists from jazz, electronic, and orchestral backgrounds, balancing improvisation with meticulous production to deliver dynamic performances both live and in the studio.
