I’ll Miss You When I Scroll Away is the first solo exhibition in an institution in Italy by artist Romane de Watteville (1993, Lausanne). The project takes the form of an environmental installation that evokes the numb time that follows the end of a party, consisting of a maze of folding screens used by de Watteville as pictorial surfaces.
One month before the exhibition closes, Romane de Watteville reconfigures the arrangement of the screens, creating new connections and pathways throughout the exhibition space.
On 11 June, the artist will welcome visitors to Istituto Svizzero and lead a walkthrough of the exhibition, exploring the references that inhabit the show, from art history, cinema, fashion and design to the visual imaginaries that inform her painting practice.
Romane de Watteville (1993, lives and works in Lausanne) is a Swiss and French artist. Her work unfolds through figurative painting, preliminary sketches with photographic collages, as well as through drawings, set designs, murals and close-up depictions balancing sensuality and visual puns. In her paintings she plays with art-historical, cinema and fashion iconographies. The paintings revolve around a play of fragmented points of view and trompe-l’œil like collages while the canvas becomes an invitation to navigate an intimate world of motifs and images, giving the impression of domestic life in an emotional and sensual tension.
