World Poetry Day 

To celebrate World Poetry Day, Accademia D’Ungheria in Rome hosts the eleventh edition of the evening of readings L’Europa in versi, which will see 15 poets from different European countries take turns in reading poetry in the original language with Italian translation.

Switzerland is represented by poet Matteo Ferretti.

Biography

Matteo Ferretti (1979) is a professor of Italian at Liceo 1 in Lugano. He graduated in Modern Literature from Alma Mater Studiorum-University of Bologna, where he also obtained his PhD in Romance Philology and Medieval Culture. In 2019, he published his first poetry book, “Everything Burns and Announces” (Casagrande Editions of Bellinzona), with which he won the Terra Nova Prize from the Swiss Schiller Foundation as the best debut work in 2020. His poems have also appeared in the multilingual magazine “Viceversa Letteratura” (2022). In 2023, he was one of the three poets selected for the Poethreesome translation project promoted by the Babel literary festival.
