Cutting Through Rocks
By Mohammadreza Eyni & Sara Khaki
2025, 94 min
First elected female municipal councilor of her Iranian village, Sara Shahverdi breaks patriarchal traditions by teaching teenage girls how to ride motorcycles and by putting an end to child marriages. When accusations cast doubt on Sara’s intentions, her identity is shaken. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize in the World Cinema Documentary Competition at the Sundance Film Festival.
Sanatorium
By Gar O’Rourke
2025, 90 min
On the shores of Odesa, in southern Ukraine, stands the imposing Kuyalnik sanatorium, a dilapidated Soviet-era health facility. Director Gar O’Rourke films, over the course of a summer, the ever-dwindling number of guests who come there for rejuvenating mud treatments and electroshock therapies, in search of love, healing, and happiness.
