Breakfast Talk with Manifesta
Intro
« Breakfast Talk with Manifesta » is organised by Manifesta 12 in collaboration with the Istituto Svizzero, Rome.
Manifesta is the European Nomadic Biennial of contemporary art and culture that changes location every two years. It originated in the Netherlands in the early 1990s as a platform to connect European artists and creatives after the end of Cold War. Today, after 11 successful editions in different European cities, Manifesta has become a major cultural event attracting diverse international audiences. Manifesta 11 was hosted in Zurich and curated by artist Christian Jankowski.
In 2018, Manifesta 12 will be hosted in Palermo, which will also become the 2018 Italian Capital of Culture. Manifesta 12 was kicked off with an in-depth urban study of the city by architecture firm, OMA, titled “Palermo Atlas”. Using the outcomes of “Palermo Atlas”, an interdisciplinary team of 4 creative mediators will curate the biennial, including Italian architect and partner at OMA Ippolito Pestellini Laparelli (who also led the urban study), Swiss contemporary art curator for Kunsthaus Zurich Mirjam Varadinis, Dutch filmmaker and journalist Bregtje van der Haak, and New-York based Spanish architect and professor Andrés Jaque.
The event will be held in English. Simultaneous translation is provided.
