Danae Festival is an international multidisciplinary project dedicated to experimentation that supports and promotes hybrid languages of the scene, using theatrical and non-theatrical spaces, as well as urban spaces in the city of Milan.
Open/Closed
Pierre Piton is a young dancer and choreographer based in Switzerland, a rising star with a strong stage presence. After his initial education at the National Conservatory in Paris, he continued studying at La Manufacture Lausanne under the artistic direction of Thomas Hauert from 2014 to 2017. He then started his own authorial career working also as a freelance with various internationally renowned choreographers. Back to Danae after his participation in 2021, he presents Open/Closed, a play where the performer’s tense postures, precarious balance and tremors, as well as his fluid relationship with the walls and the floor, challenge the horizontality and the verticality of plans, the inside and the outside of the body. Accompanied by an organic and eerie sonic creation – every swish is transformed live by Simone Aubert – this choreographic exploration stretches a flimsy thread between power and vulnerability.
With the support of Istituto Svizzero, in collaboration with DiDstudio.
