New Vibes: Open Air Connections

A live streaming concert, in collaboration with Moods Jazz Club.

Istituto Svizzero is pleased to celebrate its reopening after the lockdown with a special edition of its annual summer concert. Two young and emerging Swiss bands Dalai Puma and L’Eclair perform at Moods Jazz Club in Zurich. The sets will be transmitted live on a big screen in the garden of Villa Maraini.

The evening will kick-off a hopefully exciting summer; come and enjoy by reconnecting with people safely and listening to up-beat vibes in the garden. Sign-up and be among the first to participate to a cozy music performance, open to new and old friends. Enjoy, take your time and make it last, while we all follow simple rules for everyone’s security.

Dalai Puma is a novel rhubarb pop/ barbershop hop trio, in which indie rock, EDM and rap are spun while people move on the dancefloor. In this collective there is no front man, as all singers take over the lead and escalate into two- or three-part choirs in English and German.

The Afro-Disco, cosmic Jazz and early House band L’Eclair, is all about the blending of things, and those things that never sound the same twice; endlessly morphing like the human machine itself.

Villa Maraini’s garden will open its gates, for registered guests only, around H20:00 (exact time of each entrance to be confirmed upon registration); the first performance starts at 20:30. So come hungry! Istituto Svizzero makes available for purchase a variety of beverages and delicious food for all tastes and diets, (all in compliance with the current health regulations.)

A recorded version will be available too on our website, for a limited period time!

The event has now reached maximum capacity. The concert can be still viewed in Live streaming from our website; a link will be uploaded on the day of the event in the line-up section.

Dalai Puma
Out of three well-known figureheads of the Zurich music scene emerged the newly formed trio Dalai Puma. They call their sound Rhubarb Pop, Barbershop Hop, Indie Rap or Rocklobster. They can be recognized by their preference for flower patterns, animal prints and unsmoked cigarettes; they celebrate Queerness, Dadaism and Pop. With an opulent and lavish abundance of ideas, their songs always surprise, which is probably due to the fact that there is no bandleader. All pieces are created in a grassroots democratic approach, which leads to astonishingly long recordings.

Franziska Staubli – Voice, guitar, bass
Yannik Sandhofer – Voice, guitar, bass
Ramón Oliveras – Voice, drums

L’Eclair
Mixing all influences going from Afro-Disco, cosmic Jazz and early House, L’Éclair is the perfect soundtrack against a modern society where time isn’t an option, nor even a possibility, and where humans and machines aren’t that dissociated anymore. They want to take you on a trip through different phases of your life and by chance, make you dance and cry at the same time.

Stefan Lilov – Guitar
Yavor Lilov – Drum
Sebastien Bui – Keyboards
Elie Ghersinu – Bass
Alain Sandri – Percussion, keyboard
Quentin Pillet – Percussion
Benoit Erard – Manager, sound engineer
