Istituto Svizzero is delighted to collaborate with the Institut français Milano on the occasion of the contemporary Francophone film month, which this year is dedicated to Switzerland.

The series opens on 05.03.2026 with La Cache, directed by Lionel Baier, an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Christophe Boltanski. Both intimate and political, the film delicately and wittily explores family memory against the backdrop of European history. Lionel Baier will return to CinéMagenta63 and will be present to introduce the screening.

This is followed by a special focus on Ursula Meier, featuring two of her most emblematic works. La Ligne (12.03.2026) is an intense family drama starring Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi, portraying the conflict between mother and daughter while exploring themes of guilt, boundaries and the possibility of reconciliation.

L’Enfant d’en haut (19.03.2026) tells the story of a marginalised boy’s precarious childhood, shaped by his encounter with a fragile and ambiguous young woman played by Léa Seydoux. The film was awarded the Silver Bear at the Festival di Berlino.

The animation cycle presents Sauvages (14.03.2026). Swiss director Claude Barras, previously acclaimed for Ma vie de Courgette, delivers a visually refined and deeply poetic tale exploring themes of growth, identity and the struggle to protect a fragile and precious natural world.

To close the Mois du film francophone, a preview screening of À bras-le-corps (26.03.2025), the debut feature by Swiss director Marie-Elsa Sgualdo, offering a powerful portrait of a teenage girl confronting the silence and violence of a rural community.
