Beauty must be angry, as Lisa suggested
The event is part of the series I Pomeriggi dedicated to the Fellows.
Curated by Sultan Çoban (Fellow Roma Calling / Visual Arts, Performance).
Working across sound, image, and live presence, the performance Beauty must be angry, as Lisa suggested engages with the conditions under which a body appears and is perceived. It addresses how visibility is directed and controlled, and how this shapes the relation between performer and viewer. Drawing on visual languages from film, pop music, and theatre, the work approaches seduction as a constructed form: not as narrative, but as a mode of staging, attention, and control. It reflects on how images of femininity, desire, and power are produced, inhabited, and reshaped.
The following text is a statement by the artist Sultan Çoban:
„I am Sultan Çoban. I invited you here today to reveal my real voice. Yet I am shy, my voice is my heart. My heart is the magic that pulled you here. My presence is what made me famous. I stand behind this front, behind this window, I am well for now. At least I know I am above ground, and the eyes that look at me are looking up.“
„I will sing for you, do not worry. Knowing that I am watched, I move in a way that I know you love. I know what your eyes want to see.“
„Be my guest outside of my guesthouse.“
„Kisses, Sultan <3333“
