SOUND TALES is an immersive evening of open-air concerts held in the garden of Istituto Svizzero, organised in collaboration with the Montreux Jazz Artists Foundation.
The event supports contemporary and emerging musicians from Switzerland and Italy, offering the audience a rich and diverse sonic journey where experimentation takes centre stage through live performances and DJ sets.
This year’s line-up features a vibrant mix of sounds: Dario Bassolino, whose music is rooted in jazz improvisation, funk, and disco; Nayana, a singer and composer who blends the UK music scene with her North-East Indian heritage through intricate sampling and storytelling; and Nive, a Zurich-based DJ who explores rhythmic variety and genre fusion, drawing inspiration from Tamil culture and Carnatic traditions.

Biographies
Dario Bassolino is a pianist, producer and composer born in Naples, where he currently resides. With an eclectic taste and an genre-defying musical ability, he has produced for and played alongside alt-R&B vocalist LNDFK, jazz-funk legend Nicola Conte, Early Sounds boss Pellegrino and has collaborated with Nu Genea, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and rapper Pink Siifu to name a few. Inspired by the Brazilian funk greats Hermeto Pascual and Airto Moreira and their Italian counterparts such as Franco Califano, Lucio Battisti, Panella, Enzo Di Domenico and Gennaro D’Auria. Bassolino’s live show has a very organic form and is inspired by jazz, funk and disco improvisation, having extensive experience playing to enthusiastic international audiences as a session musician at prestigious festivals Primavera Sound, Montreux Jazz festival, Dour Festival and We Out Here.
Nayana‘s musical journey began in childhood when she enchanted an audience of tourists staying at her family’s hotel in Thailand. From the release of her debut album OSMOSE in 2022 to her latest single Freedom earlier this year, Nayana and her team have explored new perspectives in the music industry. Since the release of her first album, she has traveled across the country to share her music, performing nearly 60 concerts since 2022 and showcasing the full extent of her talent on stage. Her songs, written with sincerity and performed with grace, create an emotional experience that resonates with everyone, driven by a deep desire to celebrate culture with a unique artistic sensitivity.
Nive, DJ and driving force behind many projects in Zurich, has repeatedly showcased her distinct sense of contemporary club and music culture. Drawing on her Tamil background and former training in Carnatic music, Nive weaves a unique soundscape in her sets, moving effortlessly between different influences and tempi. Her sets are a vibrant, rhythmic exploration of a multitude of genres, each track carefully selected with a storytelling approach that aims to captivate the audience from start to finish. Her journey into DJing began with F96, a feminist interdisciplinary collective dedicated to challenging and reshaping structures in the creative field. As a core member from its early days, she played a key role in shaping its vision and direction. Slowly stepping into the international scene, she has played at venues such as Sameheads in Berlin, Salon des Amateurs in Düsseldorf, and Karmen Camina in Strasbourg. She has also performed at several radio stations across Europe, further expanding her reach. In Switzerland, she has made her mark at major festivals like Montreux Jazz Festival, Gurten Festival, and Am Bach. Currently, she is involved with the Zurich-based record label Subject To Restrictions Discs and is also the co-founder of Sooriyan, a platform celebrating South Asian creativity within Switzerland’s electronic music scene.
